What is cuter then a little costume hat with giant ears poking out the side? Now with kids it going to be for one of two things. Either they love the hat even after Halloween or its gender and time neutral so it can be passed on.
My favorite as a kid was the Dick Tracy costume. That one lasted a long time. I remember wearing it any time my mom would let me, at the time errands seemed like the exact time that my mom would need him. That is until I lost everything but the watch and the hat. Yes that undeniable yellow hat.
Just the other day I came across these gems.
Kids Hobo Costume
This one was way to funny to pass up. This costume really works because most kids probably already have these types of close in their wardrobe. They are the clothes you never let them wear. Now the piece that you need to make sure they have is the hat. This would be one that could be past down, cause over the years it will only look more authentic. Or you might find that they might take to the hat and never take it off again
Scarecrow Costume
The costumes are great for those trips out to the corn maze. You could have them practice standing still and see if they could fool anyone into thinking they are not 8 and could stand still for more than a minute, you might want to give them time to practice and what better place than at home. Plus if you have a few trick or treaters this year it would a great addition to the yellow brick road gang. Most of the costume could be found at home and the craft store. The only piece that might take a bit of extra work is the costume hat. Its not like looking for a Yankees hat in September.
Costume Chef Hat
This one is just functional. You know that the next time you are making something up for the family in the kitchen they are going to go run to get their Chef hat. Plus another pretty easy costume to come by. Just one of your aprons and some black pants would do the trick. You could really go the extra mile and get a white collard shirt.
The greatest thing about these costume ideas is that they are cheap and easy enough to make that you could spend a bit more money on a costume hat to really bring the ensemble together. And then not have to worry about breaking the bank.
